Highway Discipline And Slow Left Lane Driving
Traffic flow on multi-lane highways is facing a potential shake-up. A legislative proposal moving through the political system targets multi-lane routes featuring at least three paths going in the same direction. Under the draft text, maintaining speeds below 100 kilometers per hour in the far-left lane directly next to the divider could soon trigger legal penalties. Brocardi notes that the regulatory text cleared its initial cabinet review on October 13, 2026, before moving to parliament for review, and the House of Representatives listed it as pending in early November.
Drivers who ignore the planned minimum velocity face financial fines ranging from 40 to 160 euros. The intention behind this rule is clearing up congestion and stopping erratic braking cascades that spark rear-end collisions. Exemptions apply when temporary signs alter speed rules, or during severe conditions like heavy rain, thick fog, roadwork, or accidents. This measure applies specifically to wide multi-lane highways and leaves standard roads or general speed limits alone.
Factory Crate V8 Power For Builders
Away from highway regulations, custom car builders receive a massive performance injection. Stellantis and its factory division Direct Connection revealed six turnkey HEMI V8 engine configurations during the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. This lineup spans from the baseline 345 HEMI pushing 385 horsepower up to the apex Hellephant C170 supercharged block generating a massive output of 1,025 horsepower alongside 945 lb-ft of torque operating on an E85 fuel mix.
Instead of delivering a bare engine block, these turnkey kits bundle wiring harnesses, control units, flashed powertrain modules, and O2 sensors. Buyers can pair them with either manual Tremec setups or eight-speed TorqueFlite automatics. Backed by a three-year or 100,000-mile warranty, these packages hit Mopar dealers in the first quarter of 2027.
What You Should Watch
Keep a close eye on legislative updates if you travel across multi-lane European routes, since final wording on lane rules can shift before full approval. For project car enthusiasts, monitor dealer networks for pricing announcements ahead of the early 2027 sales rollout.
