KAR – Korakianitis Automotive Research ("KAR", "we", "us") is a startup that provides AI-powered car recommendation tools. Our website is karautoresearch.com.

2. What data we collect

When you register or use our services, we may collect:

• Your full name and email address (for account creation)
• Your password (stored securely as a hashed value — we never store your plain password)
• Your car preferences submitted during a recommendation session (e.g. budget, country, fuel type)
• Session identifiers and chat history, so you can review past recommendations
• Feedback and ratings you optionally submit

3. How we use your data

We use your data solely to:

• Create and manage your account
• Generate personalised car recommendations
• Save your chat history so you can access it later
• Improve our service based on aggregated, anonymised feedback
• Send a password reset email if you request one

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.

4. Data storage

Your account data is stored in a MongoDB database. Chat history is stored via Supabase. Both services implement industry-standard security measures. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use browser localStorage to store your user ID on your device so you remain logged in between sessions. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data

7. Third-party services

Our recommendation engine may use third-party AI APIs and search services (such as Tavily) to generate results. These services process the query text we send them — they do not receive your account credentials or personal identity.

8. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will remove your data within 30 days.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of KAR after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
